What is the 46664 concert honouring Nelson Mandela at 90?
46664 is Nelson Mandela’s global HIV AIDS awareness campaign. The campaign uses the power of music, sport and entertainment to deliver its message. In honour of Mr. Mandela’s 90th birthday 46664 is staging a concert in London’s Hyde Park to celebrate one of the world’s great icons of our time, and most important global political figures of the century.
What is 46664?
46664 is Nelson Mandela's global HIV AIDS awareness programme launched through the Nelson Mandela Foundation in 2002. It aims to bring hope and inspiration to all those infected or affected by HIV AIDS and to inspire individual and collective action towards an AIDS free world, by raising awareness about the pandemic and promoting prevention through education and outreach. The monies raised go directly to supporting HIV AIDS projects throughout sub-Saharan Africa and for more information please visit
www.46664.comWhy is Nelson Mandela so important?
Nelson Mandela was incarcerated in 1964 for being one of the primary leaders of the liberation movement against apartheid in South Africa and for his impassioned stance on the rights of everyone to live in freedom. His prison number whilst he served 18 years of his 27years of incarceration on the notorious Robben Island was prisoner number 466/64.
He was finally released in 1991 and went on to become the first democratically elected President of South Africa from 1994-1999. During his Presidency Mr. Mandela was a key figure on the international stage fighting social injustices and leading the reconciliation process in his own country.
The onset of HIV AIDS in the late 80’s and early 90’s, which has severely affected South Africa where it is estimated that 5.5 million people are living with the disease, plus his passion for social justice and the right for everyone to have an education has continued to form much of Nelson Mandela’s work since his retirement from the presidency in 1999, and even since his retirement from public life in 2004.
What is the aim of the concert?
To celebrate Nelson Mandela’s life and work, and an opportunity for the world to pay tribute to the man and to raise funds for his ongoing charitable foundations.
Where are the proceeds going?
The Nelson Mandela Foundation contributes to the making of a just society by promoting the vision and work of its Founder, Nelson Mandela and convening dialogue around critical social issues.
46664 is Nelson Mandela's global HIV AIDS awareness and prevention campaign, wholly owned by the NMF. The campaign uses the connecting power of music, entertainment, sport and celebrity as well as community outreach programmes to make the world aware of the scale and impact of the epidemic and to promote prevention as a means of breaking the cycle or new HIV AIDS infections.

National Express provides direct services to London from all over the UK, and if you book in advance you can travel to London for as little as £1. To book your travel click www.nationalexpress.com/wireless
Coach travel is the most environmentally friendly form of public transport and in 2006 an estimated 285,000 tCO2e were saved from using coach instead of car (data ECCM).
